Facility

  • The custodial and maintenance staff do an excellent job of keeping our school and campus neat and clean.

  • Our facility was built in 2011.

  • Academics

  • All report cards are standards based. They are derived from grade level standards, according to the Alabama Course of Study. By using a standards-based grading and reporting system, we can readily identify academic strengths and weaknesses and communicate this to parents.

  • Our students participate in Student Led Conferences three times during a school year. During this time, students will explain their progress in their grade level toward meeting learning targets to their parents. They will be able to explain strengths and weaknesses with grade-level skills. This is a time to celebrate learning.

Students

  • DeArmanville houses approximately 490 wonderful students.
  • Our mornings get off to a great start with a morning assembly where students say the Pledge of Allegiance, state our school’s continuous improvement process, review CHAMPS expectations, learn character traits, healthy habits, and safety tips, and celebrate their successes.
  • Our students are motivated by a progressive, challenging curriculum.
  • Students who experience difficulty with a subject are offered differentiated instruction through tiers of delivery.
  • DES students are offered many Specials during the school year, which include Art, Music, MakerSpace, Guidance, Technology, Health, and Library.

Location

To get to DeArmanville Elementary School drive east on highway 78 past the bypass, Oxford Exchange, and Honda dealership.  Look for the DeArmanville School sign.  Turn left on DeArmanville Road.  You will go past DeArmanville First United Methodist Church.  There will be a large curve, continue to stay right.  After you see a small post office on the left side of the road, take the first right and you will see the school signs.

Foundations and CHAMPS

DeArmanville Elementary implements Foundations and CHAMPS school wide, which are proactive approaches to assist teachers and students with school-wide behavior management and create a “Structure for Success.” It focuses on student expectations and behaviors resulting in higher rates of student achievement and a reduction in the frequency and intensity of misbehavior. Students are taught expectations for each setting (classroom, lunchroom, hallway, etc.) and activity (small group, stations, whole group, etc.) throughout the school day.

Conversation: Can students talk to each other?
Help: How do students get their questions answered? How do they get your attention?
Activity: What is the task or objective? What is the end product?
Movement: Can students move about?
Participation: What does the expected student behavior look like? How do students show they are fully participating?
Success: If students follow the CHAMPS expectations, they will be successful!
